The usher/greeter is a person chosen to reflect the warmth and welcome of Christ himself. Always conscious of Christ’s words, “For I was…a stranger and you welcomed me.” (Matthew 25:35).
The role of the usher is often quiet and discreet, but it is essential for the life of the parish.
At St. Francis Borgia, ushers welcome parishioners, assist in the orderly flow of the liturgy, and help foster a spirit of hospitality, unity, and generosity. By their service, they remind us that the Church is not only a building, but a family of faith.
SPIRITUAL ATTITUDE OF THE USHER
- Trustworthiness – caring responsibly for the gifts of the faithful.
- Hospitality – welcoming all, especially visitors and newcomers.
- Humility – serving quietly without seeking recognition.
- Gratitude – recognizing the generosity of God’s people.
