In response to the need to continue regional traditions by highlanders living on the Northside of Chicago and its suburbs, and thanks to the determination of Władysława Gąsior, together with Father Marek Smółka, the “Juchasi” Polish dance group was created in 2015. Shortly thereafter, Wojciech Kois joined and was supported in his artistic work by other instructors over the last few years.

The aim of our group’s activities is to develop skills related to traditions of the regional culture of Podhale, conduct cultural, educational and religious activities based on the legacy of Podhale artists. Juchasi support parish life by participating in a Highlander mass every 3rd Sunday of the month, Parish Oplatki, Easter, Christmas Masses, and bi-yearly (spring and autumn) we organize “Highlander Breakfasts”, where in the parish Stokes Center at St. Francis Borgia we serve traditional dishes of Podhale cuisine, and the children present their skills on stage.
The group also participates in various events, performances, and competitions at the Highlanders Association in North America.
