Meet our Director of Religious Education

My name is Deacon Irek Mocarski, I am from Wysokim-Mazowieckim in Poland. For the more significant part of my childhood, I was raised in the city of Łomża. About 20 years ago, I moved to Chicago and met my wife, Cindy. Throughout the years, our marriage has strengthened with great faith and has grown into an immeasurable love.

I have been a parishioner of Saint Francis Borgia for over 8 years and volunteer in numerous ministries. My journey here at SFB began with the RCIA Program, where I was introduced to the idea of becoming a Deacon.

I am eternally grateful to parish friends, religious education teachers, and the significant role models from this wonderful community that helped in my formation in the Diaconate Program. I graduated from the Institute for Diaconal Studies at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary, in May 2019. My academic studies included Catechism, Sacramental Theology, Christology and Soteriology, Homiletics, Spiritual Theology, Presiding at the Rites, and Moral Theology.

I am deeply passionate about serving others. I enjoy working with both the youth and adults. I have found great reward in helping others find their faith. If you see me around, please feel free to introduce yourself! I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity to work with all of you as one family in Christ.

With great trust in the Lord and a humble heart, I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me in forming and catechizing the future of our Church.

Our Lady of Czestochowa, pray for us.

Yours with an open heart,
Deacon Irek Mocarski

WELCOME Students, Grades 1-8

St. Francis Borgia Religious Education Program aims to create a climate for faith development by providing a stimulating and supportive atmosphere in which a child is free to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. We believe in the power and relevance of Catholic religious education. Our Religious Education Program should lead our families to worship and prayer, participate in community-building efforts, and motivate our children to Catholic Christian living and service among the future adult Church.

Classes meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

RCIA is designed for those considering joining the Catholic Church by celebrating the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. The process welcomes adults who have never been baptized and those baptized in another Christian tradition.

RCIA at St. Francis Borgia Church is an engaging, respectful, challenging, and ENJOYABLE journey.
